The announcement of the best Slovenian companies by region occurred during a prestigious gala event at Brdo pri Kranju, marking the conclusion of the Slovenian Company of the Year selection process. SIJ Acroni was honoured as the best large company in the Gorenjska region.
The selection of the best companies across Slovenian regions was conducted nationwide, with local media partnering with the credit rating agency Prva bonitetna agencija Ebonitete.si. The jury comprised representatives from the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an analyst from Prva bonitetna agencija Ebonitete.si, and editorial board members from various media outlets. The assessment was based on publicly available business performance data for 2022, meticulously evaluated by an expert jury. At Prva bonitetna agencija – EBONITETE.SI, company rankings and finalist selections were heavily influenced by financial results. Fifteen financial criteria were meticulously chosen and grouped into four categories: profitability indicators, financial strength indicators, indicators of social relevance within the region, and the rate of business evolution between 2021 and 2022.
SIJ Acroni's performance in 2022 was exceptional
Renowned as one of Europe's foremost producers of stainless and special steels, SIJ Acroni actively contributes to Europe's transition towards sustainability with its steel and related products. It is recognised as a modern recycling steel mill and stands as one of Slovenia's premier exporters. The company's outstanding business results in 2022 led to its recognition as the top company in Gorenjska.
In the Gorenjska region, Vasco claimed the award in the small business category, while Ngen secured the honour in the medium-sized business category.
Winners by region
- In the Koroška region, Lesarstvo Bricman (Bricman Woodworks) won in the first category, Labelprofi in the second, and Cablex M in the third.
- In the Primorska region, Tesis emerged as the winner among small and micro enterprises, while Vitanest claimed the top spot among medium-sized enterprises. Among the large companies in the Primorska region, Hidria took the lead.
- In the Podravje region, Bioles Horizont secured the first category, Systemair the second, and Impol the third. In Pomurje, Benko-tehna came out on top among small companies, Pomurske mlekarne took first place among medium-sized companies, and GMT among large companies.
- In the Dolenjska region, Oftalmo claimed the first category, Willy Stadler the second, and Krka the third. In central Slovenia, Strenia was the most successful among small companies, Endava among medium-sized companies, and Lek among large companies.
- In the Zasavsko-Savinjska region, Marovt emerged as the winner among small companies, Kronoterm among medium-sized companies, and Jagros or Trgovine Jager among large companies.
